Web High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

February 14th, 2026 at 4:25

Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only player to make it to the final poker table in 3 of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he paid $400, 000 to play. You may recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen won a large pot with 4 of a kind against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the best enthusiasts in the world. While wagering on web poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. He often participates in the 200/400 NL max buy in of $40, 000. Gus more often than not buys in for the min of $16, 000 and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all-in. I accept that Gus is a great poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is bankrupt, he has little or no reason to settle at the game with the min buy in.

Playing for the min takes a majority of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is accepted to be 1 of the best poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the total amount. I believe tv can alter our view of the real world every now and then. The best poker players in the world may be players you have never heard about. Gus can be found participating in internet poker on Full Tilt. He usually participates in high stakes omaha high and hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in money games?
