Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by many of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover anything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the negative feedback from others destroy his ambition of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

He started competing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a learning opportunity and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his success. He admits to making blunders in each session of poker and always strives to get better.

Even though Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying money games on a normal basis.
