Omaha Hi/Lo: Fundamental Outline

Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is commonly viewed as one of the most difficult but popular poker variations. It is a variation that, even more than regular Omaha poker, invites action from all levels of players. This is the main reason why a once irrelevant variation, has expanded in acceptance so rapidly.
Omaha hi/lo starts exactly like a regular game of Omaha. Four cards are handed out to every player. A round of betting ensues in which players can bet, check, or drop out. 3 cards are handed out, this is referred to as the flop. A further round of betting ensues. Once all the players have either called or folded, a further card is flipped on the turn. an additional round of betting happens and then the river card is revealed. The entrants will have to put together the best high and low five card hands using the board and hole cards.
This is where some players get confused. Contrasted to Holdem, in which the board can be every player’s hand, in Omaha hi/low the player must use precisely three cards from the board, and precisely 2 hole cards. Not a single card more, not a single card less. Contrary to regular Omaha, there are two ways a pot might be won: the "high hand" or the "low hand."
