Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover whatever he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse feedback from other people annihilate his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began competing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for poker. He says that he’s learning every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes errors every single session of poker and always aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
