No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

August 8th, 2021 at 21:25

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandfather introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn whatever he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the adverse comments from others kill his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal love for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes errors in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Although Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
