January 20th, 2020 at 10:25

Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup anything he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t permit the negative feedback from others kill his goal of becoming one of the best poker competitors in the world.

He started playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a normal outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always aspires to improve.

Although Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a normal basis.
