Annie Duke mightn’t have came away with her first World Series of Poker Bracelet until 2004 but she is one of the most feared poker players around the ring games at The Bellagio in Sin City. Annie’s long-overdue WSOP win came with success at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.
While players from the "younger generation" of poker run wild following a big win at the tables, Annie heads home to be "mommy" to her four kids. She hails from NH and was raised into a family of poker players. If you don’t accept that, observe her brother, Howard Lederer, in action, Howard taught Annie how to compete in the game.
However, Annie Duke is no small change girl and has earned her share of difficult tables, which includes knocking out Howard a few times on several occasions.
Earning over $3 million in tournament action, Annie branched out to become a consultant to both UltimateBet.com and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to hone his abilities to become a big player at the poker table.
You may glimpse Annie at the Bellagio, you’ll see her on TV and you might just even play with her in a web-based poker game, but don’t expect a simple win. Unless you’re a champion-in-the-making, you’ll not defeat her. although, it would be fun to say you played at the same table as "The Duke".
