Recently, I got a question from one of my students. It stated, "What precisely is pot odds and is Hold’em pot odds system worth pursuing?"

One point to keep in mind, any kind of Texas holdem odds can and usually do have very confusing. Nonetheless, let me break pot probabilities down in extremely simple terms. Please note that we are only discussing Pot Odds. Not outs, implied odds, straightforward probabilities or something else like that.

In short, pot odds are the probabilities you get when determining the ratio of the quantity of money in the pot to the quantity of money it’s going to price you to call the wager.

For example, let’s say you’re heads up with Player A. If there is certainly one hundred and fifty dollars in the pot after the flop and Player A places a 20 dollars wager it is going to cost you only thirteen per-cent of the pot to stay in the hand. If your likelihood of winning is greater than thirteen per-cent it’s a no-brainer to call because you’d probably have excellent pot probabilities.

That’s all there would be to it truly. Texas hold em pot probabilities boils down to one factor. If your chance of winning is better than the ratio of the pot size to the bet then you could have very good pot odds. If it’s lower than you could have bad pot probabilities.

One more thought about Texas hold’em pot probabilities. You’re still wagering the gambler more so than anything else. Bet on the gambler a lot more than your starting hands or the size of the chip stack and even, yes the pot odds.

If you’ll be able to understand to read your opponents well you can utilize pot odds to assist justify or solidify your conclusion. But Hold em pot odds do not have to be an end all whenever you generate a poker judgement.

Knowing and understanding how Texas holdem pot odds work is usually a useful and successful system. But again don’t make Texas hold em pot odds your only technique.
