Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player on the planet by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to learn anything he could about poker. He would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the detrimental feedback from other people kill his ambition of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
He began playing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching period and winning was not a common outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his success to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
